The terms and conditions for users of this website are set out below.

‘We, us, our’ refers to the Open Party, including: it’s officers, staff, supporters, fellows, candidates, and elected representatives.

Website Users T&C’s

Communications

We want to share pertinent information with you regarding our activities as a political party.  Pertinent information may include, but not be limited to: information regarding primary elections, campaigning materials in general or local elections, reports on sitting representatives, etc..

By registering a user account and supplying your email address and/or mobile phone number and/or postal address and/or similar personal information you consent / agree to receive communications from us as a default.

We know what it is like receiving unwanted or too many messages.  We do not want to bother you with any unwanted communications.  We try to pitch the level of communications at the right level, it is not in our interest to annoy anyone.  However we recognise that what is right for some will not be right for everyone, therefore we want you to control the level of communications you receive from us.

Please email us at [email protected] to set our communication level at one of the following.  The default setting is Standard.

☑️ Necessary

Only essential messages to manage your account (e.g. login codes, password resets, security). Also includes important voter/candidate service messages (applications, verification, logistics) and legally required comms (e.g. donations).

☑️ Marketing

Everything in Necessary, plus occasional updates like campaign news, key dates, candidates near you, events, volunteering, and ways to support. Typically up to 1/week during election periods and up to 4/year outside elections.

 

We also provide a link to unsubscribe at the bottom of all emails and any text messages can be opted out at any time using the appropriate stop message.

We agree to act promptly on all instructions from you to restrict or stop our communications.

Personal Information

We take handling your personal information seriously.

We will not share your details with anyone outside the Party, except as legally required to do so, or in some very limited necessary circumstances as set out in our Privacy Notice.

We will never sell your personal information.

We have a Privacy policy / notice, that sets out how we handle your personal information.  By registering a user account, donating, completing a form, or any other use of our website, users of the website agree to the Open Party managing their personal information as set out in the Open Party Privacy policy (notice), as updated from time to time.  The Privacy Notice is available on our website at Privacy notice.

Cookies

Our website uses both essential and some non essential cookies.  You can manage the cookies at any time at Cookie Preferences. Users of the website agree to the use of Cookies as per the Cookie Policy

 

Donors

All contributions to Open Party UK, including sponsorships, are governed by the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000.  For comprehensive information reference should be made to the legislation.

  • Contributions exceeding £500 will only be accepted from eligible donors.
  • Eligible donors include: individuals listed on a UK electoral register, UK-based Trade Unions, UK-incorporated companies registered and operating in the UK, Limited Liability Partnerships, UK unincorporated associations, and UK building or friendly societies.
  • Individuals donating more than £500 must be registered on the UK electoral roll (excluding the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man). Open Party UK will confirm your eligibility.
  • All donations must originate from the donor’s own resources and must not be funneled through a third party. Concealing the true source of a donation is a legal offence.
  • Contributions totalling more than £11,180 from a single donor to the Open Party within a calendar year must be reported to the Electoral Commission. This includes individual donations above £11,180 or multiple donations over £500 that collectively exceed £11,180 in a calendar year.
  • The Electoral Commission will publish the donor’s name and the donation amount on its website. Individual donors’ addresses remain private, but organisational addresses are disclosed.

 

Intellectual Property

The layout, design, structure, and visual elements of the Open Party website are the exclusive intellectual property of the Open Party.

No external organisation may copy, replicate, or adapt any part of the website’s design, layout, structure, or visual elements for use in another functional website without prior written consent from the Open Party.
